Elementary Summer Camp

We are excited to announce our elementary summer camp! Camps run for 9 weeks starting June 26th and ending August 25th. The elementary summer program is open to students going into 1st-5th grade in the 2017-2018 school year (6-12 years old). Our summer program for younger students is located across the street and you can find more information here. French language proficiency is not a requirement.

Registration 

Our summer program is highly customizable and flexible based on family's needs. We offer half day, full day, and extended care options. You may pick from a list of weekly enrichment camps (listed below) or day sessions, where students participate in crafts, games and more. All enrichment camps and general sessions take place at our campus located at 5816 SW Hood Avenue.

All enrichment camps are half days, from 9am-noon. Complimentary early drop off is available starting at 8am and half day pick up is after lunch at 12:30pm. Families can add on afternoon care until 3pm for an additional fee.

    Week 1: June 26-30

    • Tous les secrets du papier mâché

      All the secrets of paper mâché! Come make handmade creations using paper mâché. Projects include vases, bowls, boxes, jewelry, and more! Campers will have the opportunity to personalize their objects with paintings and decorations.

    Week 2: July 3-7 **closed July 4**

    • Sailing

      During this fun four-day sailing class, students will learn about small-boat sailing under the instruction of Willamette Sailing Club's US Sailing-certified instructors. Students will get to sail a variety of different boats while adventuring on the Willamette River and learning basic sailing skills. Students will wear life jackets at all times but they will be asked to pass a basic swim test on the first day so some formal swim instruction is required to participate in this camp.

    Week 3: July 10-14

    • On fait un film!

      An introduction to cinema and filmmaking! Campers will learn about different genres of film (from documentary to film noir to musical, both anglophone and francophone) and then split off into smaller groups, working together to write, storyboard, plan and act out their own stories for camera! Short films will be edited and shared by Madame Megan later in July.

    Week 4: July 17-21

    • Circus arts!

      Enter the virtuosic world of clowning, tumbling, acrobatics, storytelling, object manipulation and partner balancing acts. Throughout this fun and exciting workshop series we will work on developing motor and coordination skills, kinesthetic awareness, basic tumbling, creative movement and games as we bravely enter the world of clowns, tumble the roads of acrobats and unlock the potential of creative circus in a safe and joyous way.

    • Gymnastics

      Try out various gymnastic equipment and learn basic fundamentals on all the traditional apparatus including bars, beam, and trampoline. Learn about the history of the sport and the technical differences between men's and women's gymnastics. Includes gymnastics themed crafts to take home, and at the end of the week students will perform a routine that they helped choreograph!

    Week 5: July 24-28

    • Music video camp

      Find your inner star and learn to shine in this fun interactive camp. Campers work together to write, perform in, video tape and edit a music video, a copy of which will be distributed to each camper at the end of the camp. No former music training required to attend. This camp is a fun-filled experience for children, introducing them to singing, acting, dancing, and new media.

    Week 6: July 30-August 4

    • Minecraft Mini Game Making

      Don't just play Minecraft, build your own games in Minecraft. In this course students will learn how to visualize , develop and create a playable map using design and problem-solving skills. Students will be working as teams to plan and create their own versions of classic minecraft games such as Spleef and Parkour. More advanced students will learn how to take their minecraft games to the next level by incorporating command blocks to create custom mobs, items and ideas to play with their friends!

    • Soccer!

      Spend a week enjoying the world’s most popular sport in a fun, recreational environment. Play fun soccer games to build skills in our fun, age-appropriate camp. Learn and practice soccer skills including: dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting. Everyone is a winner as the week’s fun culminates in an age-appropriate “World Cup” tournament. All campers will receive a soccer ball and a jersey.

    Week 7: August 7-11

    • Composition 101

      In this camp students will spend the week composing an original piece of music! Campers will learn the step-by-step creative process for creating music and have the opportunity to experiment with different types of instruments and singing. All the students will have the chance to contribute to and perform in the final piece.

    • Création de petits films d'animation

      Making little animated films. Over the course of the week, students will work together in groups to create an animated film. Campers will use their imagination and artistic skills to come up with a theme, use a story board to plan out their film, and create the characters and sets. Then they will use iPad apps to direct, film, and add voice overs to complete their film!

    Week 8: August 14-18

    • Body & mind

      In this camp students will exceed their own expecations by discovering the amazing things their body and mind can do. Every day, campers will discover their abilities by exploring yoga, relaxation, dance, and games. They will leave class each afternoon feeling surprised and proud of what they learned and accomplished.

    • Scratch intro to programming

      Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

    Week 9: August 21-25

    • Lego WeDo with Scratch

      If your child likes Legos and programming, this is a class for them. Combining the physical and virtual worlds by using Scratch programming and Legos together to create amazing builds from Mozek Games' exclusive collection of more than 24 WeDo projects. Students will explore, program and build mechanisms, machines, and programming--all with Scratch.
