Maternelle Summer Program

We are excited to announce our summer camp offerings for 2018! Camps run for 9 weeks starting June 25th and ending August 24th. The maternelle summer program is open to students going into preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten in the 2018-2019 school year (3-6 years old). Our summer program for older students is located across the street and you can find more information here. All students must be fully potty trained. French language proficiency is not a requirement.

Registration

Our summer program is highly customizable and flexible based on family's needs. We offer half day, full day, and extended care options. You may pick from a list of weekly specialty camps or select camps where you can choose the day(s) that your child attends. All specialty camps take place at our campus located at 5839 SW Hood Avenue.

All enrichment camps are half days, from 9am-noon. Complimentary early drop off is available starting at 8am and half day pick up is at 12:00pm. Families can add on afternoon care until 3pm for an additional fee. Aftercare is also available until 6:00pm.

    Week 1: June 25-29

    • Atelier de Cuisine

      In this workshop, children will learn to read a recipe (this includes visual clues/images for those who cannot yet read); acquire specific vocabulary; measure and perform various tasks related to preparing a dish (cracking an egg, using a knife without cutting oneself, pouring a liquid, etc.). Campers will discover new flavors as they taste what they prepared together. At the end of the workshop, students will have their own book of recipes to bring home and share with their families.

    • Little Sound Explorers

      Explore the different ways to make sounds! Campers will bring songs to life through stories and paintings in order to help them understand the effect of sound. By manipulating everyday objects students will discover that music is all around them!

      Ages: 3-6 • Time: 9am-noon • Instructor: Monsieur Marc • Camp fee: $200 • Language: French

    Week 2: July 2-6 **closed July 4**

    • Once Upon a Time: A Puppet

      Students will spend the week learning how to build a marionette using every-day objects. Campers will prepare a short story and learn to act out the story with their puppets.

    • Soccer!

      Spend a week enjoying the world’s most popular sport in a fun, recreational environment. Learn and practice soccer skills including: dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting. Everyone is a winner as the week’s fun culminates in an age-appropriate “World Cup” tournament. All campers will receive a soccer ball and a jersey.

      Ages: 3-6 • Time: 9am-noon • Instructor: Kids Love Soccer • Camp fee: $160 • Language: English

    Week 3: July 9-13

    • World Art

      Campers will have the chance to discover works of art and literature from different continents, such as Australia and Africa, and to experiment with different artistic techniques through projects based on those explorations.

    • Tennis

      Grab your tennis racket and get ready to play! This camp is to introduce small kids to the game of tennis in a fun-filled way. We will focus on motor skills (eye hand coordination), racquet skills, and games. Soft, foam balls will be used for safety. Parents must provide a child-sized racquet.

    Week 4: July 16-20

    • Circus Arts!

      Enter the virtuosic world of clowning, tumbling, acrobatics, storytelling, object manipulation and partner balancing acts. Throughout this fun and exciting workshop series we will work on developing motor and coordination skills, kinesthetic awareness, basic tumbling, creative movement and games as we bravely enter the world of clowns, tumble the roads of acrobats and unlock the potential of creative circus in a safe and joyous way.

    • French through Stories and Songs

      By listening to simple stories and learning to sing songs, campers will begin to learn French or practice the French they already know. They will acquire new French vocabulary in a playful manner.

    Week 5: July 23-27

    • Le théâtre

      In this camp students will stage the story “Mandarine la petite souris” by Noëlle and David A. Carter. In the process they will learn simple French vocabulary about animals, verbs of action, as well as staging and costumes.

    • Little Sound Explorers

    Week 6: July 30- August 3

    • Les petitis chefs

      Campers will prepare five famous French recipes this week: crêpes, a galette des rois, a baguette, croissants and a brioche. In addition to learning the recipes they will also read stories related to food and la cuisine.

    • Gymnastics

      Try out various gymnastic equipment and learn basic fundamentals on all the traditional apparatus including bars, beam, and trampoline. Learn about the history of the sport and the technical differences between men's and women's gymnastics. Includes gymnastics themed crafts to take home, and at the end of the week students will perform a routine that they helped choreograph!

    Week 7: August 6-10

    • Ballet & Hula Dancing

      Each morning of this camp will begin with a 45-minute ballet class where we warm-up our bodies, strengthen our core, and practice basic ballet technique, all using playful activities. After the movement section will be a cultural exploration of ballet followed by snack time. The second half of the morning will include another 45-minute dance section on Hula, which will also have a cultural section.

    • Musique et mouvement

      A fun and creative class for kids to explore and express movement and music. This camp will include games, dances and other activities to develop reflexes, coordination and spontaneity while exercising the right and left sides of the brain. A variety of music styles and singalongs will be incorporated to work on rhythm, coordination, and motor skills.

    Week 8: August 13-17

    • Soccer
